Shining World...Clouds scuttle low across the burnt orange sky,
Their copper bellies thin as a stray cat's.
The wind is too hot, too cutting, too dry,
Hordes of burning breezes biting like gnats.
I miss the thin trees with their silver leaves,
The red grasses hiding burnt crimson bones,
The mountains where the land roils and heaves
And slides to pale snows and piled stones.
Where is it now, far across the darkness,
Past a thousand suns, through a thousand nights?
A golden dream where I find my solace
In the mindless rest my memory fights.
For now I watch the streetlight's silent glow,
Far from my home, from everything I know

The Fires of Gallifreyby ~urasei

Since I got my Handy Dandy Art Blog ( [link] ) I stopped putting up sketches here, but this one I loved from the second I looked down at it (since I wasn't totally paying attention to it) and then I liked the coloring and...yeah.

I love the Commander because she's such a dark character, but she doesn't always have the opportunity to be that way. While Nova, my other dark character, is just a psycho and sort of always has an undertone of darkness, the Commander is such a dichotomy between closet-traveling-angry-bullshit and fucking-intense-hardcore-military-patriotic-madness.

Anyway. The Commander, no holds bared, no laughs, lots of angry.

Oh, the Commander is just the kind of thing that happens when you start exploring the mechanics of Time Lord society and you happen to be a writer; sometimes characters just saunter into your living room and make themselves at home. Yeah, most people make characters who actually interact with the Doctor...and some people are insane. I fall into the latter category.
